Beach cleaning at Komatsu Beach (Foreign language club)
2024年5月25日 00時00分On Saturday, May 25th, Joto's Foreign Language Club organized its first beach cleaning event at Komatsu Beach (小松海岸). 3 ALTs from other schools joined the activity.
In the first hour, the participants managed to gather a total of 4 garbage bags' worth of waste, which included many empty cans and PET bottles, food containers, and fireworks.
Some groups made some interesting finds, such as broken plastic pipes and pieces of a broken dinner table.
After finishing the cleaning and separating all the garbages, the participants played some games in English. The students also had some time to discuss with the ALTs in English and ask them questions about their home countries (New Zealand, Canada and the United States) and their life in Japan.
Many of the participants expressed feeling happy they could do something good for the environment while learning about other cultures and practicing their English, so we are looking forward to organizing this kind of event again in the future.
5月25日（土）、外語部は他校から3名のALTにも参加していただき、小松海岸で初めてのビーチクリーニングを行いました。
最初の1時間で、空き缶やペットボトル、食品容器、花火など、合計4袋分のゴミを集めることができました。割れたプラスチックパイプや壊れた食卓テーブルの破片など、興味深い発見をしたグループもありました。
掃除とゴミの分別の後、英語でゲームをしました。ALTと英語でディスカッションをしたり、彼らの母国（ニュージーランド、カナダ、アメリカ）や日本での生活について質問したりすることもできました。
参加した部員からは、「異文化を学び、英語の練習をしながら、環境に良いことができた」と喜びの声が多く聞かれました。今後もこのようなイベントを企画していきたいと思います。
