日本高校生パーラメンタリーディベート連盟四国九州オープン 2023 HPDU Shikoku Kyushu Open 2023

3/11（土）、12（日）の２日間、オープン参加の高校も含めて全国から25校、47チームが集結した日本高校生パーラメンタリーディベート連盟四国九州オープン2023は、四国・九州枠、初心者枠、そしてオープン枠の３つの枠に分かれて開催されました。

パーラメンタリーディベートとは、準備時間15～20分間と限られている中で、ある論題に対して、2つのチームが肯定側・否定側に分かれて意見を考え、その後、討論し審判をより納得させた方が勝ちです。

本校からは、外語部2年生１名とカナダ・ノルウェーからの留学生が参加しました。

大会に向けての準備が不十分な中、初心者枠で挑戦した今回の大会、全国の強豪を相手に結果は第3位でした！

そして、参加者3名の内、2名は「ベストスピーカー賞」として選んでいただけました。

今回の大会では、全国の高校生たちとオンラインで繋がり、試合の合間にはお喋りをして交流したり、ご当地クイズやゲストスピーカーの方の講演を聴いて有意義な時間を過ごしました。

更なる高みを目指して、頑張りたいと思います。

The HPDU Shikoku Kyushu Open 2023 was held on Mar. 11th (Sat.) and 12th (Sun.) via online conference system. 25 high schools that contain 47 teams have particiated in this tournament from all over Japan.

There were three different sections: Shikoku Kyushu section, Novice section, and Open section.

The parliamentary debate functions as follows. There is a 15-20 mins. prep. time and discuss your opinion within the group. The two teams will be either on Government side (Pro) or Opposition side (Con) and they both try to convince the judge by debating.

From Joto Foreign Language Club (JFLC), three participants have joined in this tournament. One is from 2nd grade, and the other two are from Canada and Norway.

While there weren't enough time to prepare, we ranked in the third place among the top high schools in Japan!

Moreover, two of the three were awarded as best speakers!

During this tournament, all the participants had opportunities to communicate with other high schools from all over Japan, enjoyed the local quiz, and listened to the lectures from the guest speakers.

To aim a higher goal, we'll keep up our motivation higher.
